LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. - Homeowners across the nation are giving up their traditional homes to live in a tiny house.

Most tiny houses range from only 100 to 400 square feet and vary in cost between professionally built or do-it-yourself models.

Tiny homeowners also have the option of placing it on a foundation or making it mobile.

For one tiny home owner, it's the simplistic and inexpensive lifestyle that makes it so appealing.

She says it's a way of living that's sure to become more popular in the future.

"We're not a prisoner to the mortgage companies, to the higher insurance rates, to the landscape because so many of these are on wheels, you can go anywhere you want, you can stay as long as you want, you can pick up and take off and go again, said Patti Cannan.

If you're interested in a tiny lifestyle, Tiny House NC will be holding a one-day workshop on July 22 to tell you everything you need to know.
