Portland, Ore. hit 116 degrees on Monday, which set their all-time record high temperature.
Seattle climbed to 108 degrees, which also set the all-time record high for that city. While these are impressive, these aren't the record hottest temperatures for the state.
According to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, the hottest temperature ever recorded in Oregon is 119 degrees. That occurred in Pendleton on Aug. 10, 1898.
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Washington is 118 degrees. That occurred in Ice Harbor Dam on Aug. 5, 1961.
Texas records
By comparison, the hottest temperature ever recorded in Dallas is 113 degrees. That happened twice back in June 1980.
Austin has soared to its top temperature of 112 degrees on two occasions: once on Sep. 5, 2000, and again on Aug. 28, 2011.
San Antonio climbed to 111 degrees back on Sep. 5, 2011.
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Texas is 120 degrees. The mercury climbed there twice: once in 1936 and again in 1994.
