LA GRANGE, Texas — Bravion Rogers does just about everything for the La Grange football team. You’ll see him line up as a cornerback, receiver and even take snaps at QB for the Leopards.
“I can run the ball, catch and I’m fast. Not many fast people can catch the ball,” Rogers said. “I want to do whatever is best for the team, help them as much as I can.”
While his versatility is impressive, his speed is what separates Rogers as a prospect. He’s been clocked in the 4.3’s in the 40-yard dash. That speed helped him stand out at college camps this summer and create a lot of attention to his game.
“Now that people have seen how I am this summer, people are going to be looking up to me,” Rogers said.
What he did this summer was grab his first offers to play football in college, a huge moment for a young man who’s been playing the game since he was 4 years old.
“It was exciting. I called my dad as soon as I got off the phone,” Rogers said. “It opened my eyes. Make sure I go 100%.”
Rogers received offers from colleges such as SMU, TCU, Baylor and Michigan. He’s the first major recruit La Grange has had since JK Dobbins came through the program a few years back. Dobbins is now the starting running back for the Baltimore Ravens and someone Rogers knew growing up and also motivates him.
“Yeah, I watched him a lot,” Rogers said. “You have somebody like that, you want to be better than them and try to work harder.”
Hard work has allowed Rogers to have success early in his high school career. He’s motivated to push himself through with the support of his family.
“My motivation really is I want to get out of La Grange. Nobody in my family went off to play college football,” Rogers said. “I want to be the first to do that. My mom and dad, brother and sisters motivate me to, and they are behind me.”
Rogers and La Grange will begin the 2021 season on Aug. 27 against Rockdale.
