A man is in critical condition from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing his daughter and leading authorities on a chase in a stolen car, Polkton police said.

Anson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to West Street for a domestic call around 3 a.m. Monday night, police said.
Michael Roach threatened a woman in his home with a gun and then took their child, Mianna Roach, authorities said.

After a BOLO was put out for Roach and the woman’s car that he drove off in, a deputy tried to stop the vehicle. But Roach took off, with the chase leading to north Anson County, according to a news release from officials Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies discovered the deceased girl, Mianna Roach, with a gunshot wound after Michael Roach crashed the car near Little Creek Road.
Roach had been taken to CMC Main, and at last report, was in critical condition.
“My heartfelt prayers go out to the families affected by this tragedy,” Polkton Police Chief Tim Hutchinson said. “I also want to express my gratitude to the first responders, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Anson County Sheriff’s Office for their dedication and support.”
The State Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, alongside the Polkton Police Department, and the sheriff’s office.
