AUSTIN, Texas — The Super Bowl is set, and while the two teams prepare for the biggest matchup of the year, Americans are planning their Super Bowl parties. One of, if not the most important component of any Super Bowl party is, of course, the food. A new study done by Coffeeness has found the most popular Super Bowl foods by state, with Texans’ favorite Super Bowl snack being hot dogs.

The most popular Super Bowl food in the country was buffalo chicken dip, emerging as a top food in 29 states according to the study. Hawaii and Florida had a surprising top dish with poke bowls topping the list. Baked potatoes were particularly popular in the West, coming in at the top spot in California, Oregon and Washington among others. Fried green tomatoes continue to be popular in the South, finding themselves at the top in states like Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

For desserts, strawberry shortcake reigned supreme. It led the dessert category, being both the top dessert in the country and the top dessert in Texas. Peanut butter blossoms and banana bread came in at No. 2 and 3, winning a combined 19 states between the two.

Regional influences also made an impact, with dishes like crawfish etouffee being popular in Louisiana, and buckeyes being the top dessert in Ohio.

The study was conducted using search trends and keywords leading up to and just following the Super Bowl in 2024.
