MESQUITE, Texas — Lamont Rogers once dreamed of playing in the NBA.
But now the Mesquite Horn senior has decided that football is where his future lies.
"I'm going to the NFL," Rogers said. "I'm confident in myself and what I can do and what my capabilities are."
A two-time district MVP in basketball, Rogers said his skills on the hardwood have elevated his play on the football field.
"My footwork and balance," said the 6-foot-7, 310-pounder. "You need balance to play offensive line, need to know how to use your body. And basketball is the same way."
Rogers is verbally committed to play in the SEC at the University of Missouri. He said the culture and coaching staff were big reasons why he decided to become a Tiger.
"They treated me well," Rogers said. "There’s no distractions out there. That's a good thing."
