LEWISVILLE, Texas — Lewisville's Paislie Allen likes to flash the leather.

"Defense is where I'm in my zone," Allen said. "I feel like that's where I'm at my best.”

The Farmers shortstop started playing softball after going to watch her older brother play little league baseball.

"I was like, 'Mom, I want to do that,'" said Allen, a senior at Lewisville. "My mom started coaching me. And eventually, I started to enjoy the thrill and the competitiveness that is in the game."

Allen is now one of the top high school players in the Class of 2024 in Texas. She's signed to play at the University of Georgia next year.

"The [Georgia] coaches kind of sealed the deal, because they would come out to every game," Allen said about her commitment. "Going out there, I loved the environment. I love everything about Georgia, and I'm excited to go and be there for my next four years."

Before she officially becomes a Bulldog, Allen will play for Team USA in the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup this summer. She was picked for the team after impressing scouts during a tryout in December.

“I was a bit nervous going there, because I knew there were a lot of good athletes," Allen said. "I went there and balled out ... and I was like, 'wow, I made the team, the USA team.'"
