HOUSTON — Video captured by a passenger and obtained by CNN shows flames shooting from the engine of a Southwest flight on Tuesday.

The plane was bound for Cancun from Houston’s Hobby Airport. However, what was described as a mechanical issue by the Dallas-based airline forced Flight 307 back to the airport.

Spectrum News 1 reached out to Southwest on Friday and received the following statement:

“Southwest Flight #307 from Houston Hobby (HOU) to Cancun (CUN) returned to the airport on Tuesday night after experiencing a mechanical issue shortly after takeoff. The aircraft landed safely, was taken out of service for review, and a different aircraft continued the flight to Cancun Tuesday evening. We applaud the Crew for their professionalism, and we appreciate our Customers’ patience.”

There were no reports of injuries. The issue occurred about 15 minutes into the flight
