AUSTIN, Texas — It’s a long trip from Whoville’s Mount Crumpit to South and then Central Texas, where the Broadway musical "The Grinch" is back for the first time in almost a decade.
"After years of isolation and solitude, it’s nice to be back and appreciated by the world again,” the Grinch said.
Returning to the touring scene after a long hiatus, even the Grinch admits it feels good.
“I can’t wait to steal Christmas — I mean give it back,” the Grinch said.
The tour begins at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio this week before kicking off a slate of shows in Austin at the University of Texas’ Bass Concert Hall on Dec. 6.
“The food is so good here and I’m excited to see some bats as well,” the Grinch said.
As part of a press tour for their first showing in the Capital City, the famous Christmas character visited many of the area's famous tourist attractions and met with fans.
“I think my heart grew one-and-a-half sizes today,” the Grinch said.
His appreciation for the region growing fonder with each encounter, there was plenty of love for the arts and culture display — even if the long-term objective is still quite clear.
“I’m coming to steal your Christmas,” the Grinch said.
