Niyah Gonzalez joined the Spectrum News team as an anchor and reporter in June 2022.
Niyah is originally from Kansas City, Missouri. She went on to attend Denison University in Ohio, where she played on the basketball team, before going to Northeastern University in Boston to earn her Masters degree. While in graduate school, Niyah worked at WHDH 7 as an associate producer.
Niyah landed her first on-air job in 2018 right out of graduate school. She worked as the main morning reporter for KETV Newswatch 7 in Omaha, Nebraska where she covered the College World Series and historic flooding that wiped out entire towns. Niyah also contributed as a sports MMJ thanks to her collegiate sports background.
She then moved to Waco, Texas where she was the weekday evening news and sports anchor for a little over two years. During her tenure, she produced a 30-minute Black History Month special honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans in Central Texas. During high school football season, Niyah co-anchored a weekly sports show showcasing the biggest games and highlights across the viewing area.
During her free time, Niyah enjoys working out, hanging out with her French Bulldog, French Montana (AKA Montey), and trying new restaurants. She is extremely excited to be in Dallas-Fort Worth closer to her older sister and young nieces. Her faith and her family are very near and dear to her and keep her grounded.
