DALLAS — Expect the nationally recognized Addison Kaboom Town to bring in around half a million guests on Sunday.
The annual event and its firework show have continued to grow in size and scale since 1985.
In the last ten years, Chad Stanley has had a hand in what each Fourth of July firework show looks like. Stanley says the year-long preparations include, “choreography, the music, and the firing of the show.”
The North Texas resident says he’s always had a love for fireworks, sparking him to get into pyrotechnics in 2000.
“I’ve always just loved fireworks. We were always the kids that popped fireworks on days that weren’t the fourth,” Stanley said.
Thirteen years later, Stanley, the general manager of Pyro Shows of Texas, took charge of the nearly 30 minute long firework show for Addison Kaboom Town.
Addison officials tell Spectrum News that this will be the first year since the start of the pandemic, where there won’t be any restrictions on large gatherings.
“We’re excited to be going back up to big crowds, again. This year, we’re bringing everybody together to celebrate Independence Day,” Jasmine Lee, Addison’s director of special events, said.
Once the preparation is all said and done, Stanley said the chance to enjoy fireworks with family and loved ones makes it all worth the journey.
“Everybody behind us has family and friends that get to join in on that fun and say that there’s some portion of getting to see that,” Stanley said.
According to the Addison Kaboom Town website, the Addison Circle Park gates will open at 5 p.m. with fireworks set to go off at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Town officials say park tickets are sold out, but visitors can check out more than 180 restaurant options that will provide people with a good view of the fireworks.
