SAN ANTONIO — Bessie Prado retired a few years ago.
“Good to get out and just enjoy Fiesta,” Prado said.
Senior Fiesta has become an event she looks forward to.
“It’s free. It’s senior friendly,” Prado said. “And you get a lot of freebies.”
Catholic Charities say they see thousands of San Antonio seniors come out each year — for the only Fiesta event that’s just for them.
“We are finding that people are ready to live again,” Tara Ford, Catholic Charities' interim vice president of mission advancement, said. “And our seniors, we want to make sure that they are taken care of and getting out of their homes.”
Seniors get to enjoy music, dancing and learn more about helpful programs and services.
“I don’t like to do a lot of the Fiesta downtown anymore,” Prado said. “It’s good to see people with grey hair like me too.”
