Ricky Cody is an Indiana native who quickly fell in love with Austin, Texas. Cody developed his passion for weather at a young age. His fascination with snow and winter weather led him to earn his degree in meteorology from Valparaiso University.

Prior to arriving in Austin, Cody was the chief meteorologist for FOX West Texas in Abilene and San Angelo, Texas. While there, Cody redeveloped the station’s weather team and branding, making the station the most watched station for weather. Cody tracked tornadoes, flooding and ice for an area the size of Ohio. His passion for weather storytelling and community involvement earned him three EMMY nominations in 2018 and an EMMY win in 2019. Cody also won two Edward R. Murrow awards for his work on testing bodies of water in Ballinger, Texas after residents complained their drinking water was destroying their health.

Cody enjoys the changing weather in Texas and the challenges it poses to forecasting. Above everything else, he’s committed to keeping the viewers of central Texas safe.

When he’s not forecasting, you can catch him enjoying time outdoors, exploring restaurants and getting involved with the community.
