SAN ANTONIO -- The power of social media and waffles was on full display when the Waffle House food truck pulled in front of the Majestic Theatre on Houston Street in downtown.

- People lined up for free waffles
People lined up for free waffles, hash browns, and drinks for three hours on Tuesday.
The reason for the visit was to show appreciation following a recent campaign on Twitter. The restaurant chain posted a poll on the social media site nearly two weeks ago, asking where the next Waffle House should be built and San Antonio was one of the options.
"We have a huge social media following in San Antonio. We feel very lucky and very honored that people want us to come here,” said Waffle House Communications Director Kelly Thrasher.
This was the first leg of a three city tour for the food truck, but it doesn't mean the restaurant chain has plans for new restaurants in the area.
At least not in the near future.
"Eventually we'll get our way here. This is meant to tide people over until we can get here," said Thrasher.
