SAN ANTONIO – Locals who want to decrease the homeless population on the city's South Side are offering tips on combating a growing problem.
On Thursday, South Side residents attended a community conversation hosted by Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran.
The meeting discussed the challenges faced by District 3, which include aggressive panhandling and homelessness.
Viagran pinpointed several areas of the district where panhandlers exist, including Interstate 37 at Fair Avenue.
An uptick in resources has been distributed throughout the district through the Homelessness Task Force.
The addition of church groups assisting the homeless with obtaining identification cards has been part of the solution to get people off the streets.
