SAN ANTONIO -- A prominent Texas Democrat is launching a political action committee, hoping to raise money nationally and statewide.

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro publicly launched the Opportunity First PAC on Tuesday.

Castro said that the PAC will support the Democratic effort to take control of the U.S. House and make party gains in state legislatures before the next round of redistricting in 2021.

While Castro has repeatedly said he hasn't made a decision on a run for president, candidates considering it often get involved in midterm election campaigns this way.
