The longest serving member in the Texas Senate, Dean Senator Judith Zaffirini, is one of the most prominent figures at our state legislature. Senator Zaffirini is the first woman at our legislature to hold the title of dean. She was also the first Mexican American woman to join our state Senate in 1987. She shared some of her wisdom with us recently at her office in the state Capitol.
