As we’ve been learning throughout this show many Hispanic pioneers of change call Texas home. That includes 21-year-old Jennifer Lozano – our country’s top female boxer in the 110-pound weight division and Laredo’s first-ever Olympic athlete. Jennifer – also known as “la traviesa” or the “troublemaker” – recently participated in the Paris Olympics, and we are honored to have her on In Focus Texas.

This year, Texas lost a pioneer of change in the Tejano music scene, the iconic show host Johnny Canales. Our Jose Arredondo explores the impact Canales had on the careers of numerous tejano artists.
