As tropical moisture moves into Texas, Wednesday is likely to be the wettest day of the week with multiple rounds of heavy rain for South and Coastal Texas. Austin and Waco will see considerably less rainfall than  San Antonio, and DFW may even manage to stay completely dry. Temperatures will drop into the 80s for most, but dry conditions and 90s will return statewide by this weekend.

1. Gov. Abbott offers additional $10,000 reward for information on Round Rock shooting

The Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons involved in the shooting that killed two and injured fourteen others during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Saturday.

In addition to the state reward, Williamson County Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering $5,000, bringing the total reward amount up to $20,000.

2. Texas doctor charged with taking private patient information on transgender care

A Texas doctor who calls himself a whistleblower on transgender care for minors is accused of illegally obtaining private information on patients who were not under his care from the nation's largest pediatric hospital. 

Federal prosecutors said Dr. Eithan Haim, a 34-year-old surgeon, snatched the information and shared it with a conservative activist with “intent to cause malicious harm” to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

3. Schumer to bring bill restoring Roe to floor as Democrats set up next abortion messaging push

Speaking on the Senate floor on Monday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he had taken the first procedural step to bring up the Reproductive Freedom for Women Act, which the Democratic leader said would affirm a woman’s “fundamental right to choose” and codify into federal law practices under Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed the right to an abortion. 

4. House Ethics Committee will continue to review sexual misconduct allegations, other claims about Rep. Matt Gaetz

Since April 2021, the House Ethics Committee has been reviewing whether the four-term Republican, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., engaged in a long list of behaviors that violated House Rules or standards of conduct.

“Based on its review to date, the Committee has determined that certain of the allegations merit continued review. During the course of its investigation, the Committee has also identified additional allegations that merit review,” the Committee said in a statement.

Galleria Dallas to get Netflix House ‘en­ter­tainment concept’ in 2025

The streaming giant on Tuesday announced that Galleria Dallas is one of two U.S. shopping centers that will be home to Netflix House, described as a “new entertainment concept.”

Currently under construction at the 1.9-million-square-foot shopping center, a news release says Netflix House will feature “your favorite Netflix stories and characters beyond the screen year-round.”
