1. Paxton won't be compelled to testify in impeachment trial

The impeachment trial for suspended Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has begun. After entering a not guilty plea on each of the articles of impeachment, Paxton won't be compelled to testify or called as a witness, according to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton faces an impeachment trial in the state Senate starting Tuesday on articles overwhelmingly approved by the House of Representatives. 3. Proud Boys’ Enrique Tarrio gets record 22 years in prison for Jan. 6 seditious conspiracy

Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was sentenced Tuesday to 22 years in prison for orchestrating his far-right extremist group’s attack on the U.S. Capitol in a failed bid to stop the transfer of presidential power after Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.
