SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio is ready for St. Patrick's Day this weekend.
- Tradition has gone on more than 50 years
- 25 gallons of eco-friendly green dye
- Bagpiper played along the two and half mile stretch
It all stated with the traditional dying of the River Walk green and is a tradition of more than 50 years.
A dye boat sprayed 25 gallons of eco-friendly green dye into the river Saturday afternoon, and will return on Sunday to brighten the color.
There was a bagpiper on board to bring the Irish spirit.
People viewed and cheered along the two and half mile stretch as the boat winded its way through downtown.
"It is super family friendly," Paula Schechter of the The San Antonio River Walk Association said. "As a matter of fact, this year we added to the Cos House which is over by La Villita by adding an Irish garden with storytelling and children and adult karaoke. It's just going to be really nice and there's sing alongs."
