SAN ANTONIO  – Honored as October's Scholar Athlete, Kendra Grimm says sports have always been a part of her.

“I love to play sports. I mean, I can’t really imagine myself not playing because I’ve done it my whole life,” Grimm said.

Grimm is no stranger to hard work. As a senior at Johnson High School in San Antonio, she’s gearing up for her last year with her school volleyball team.

“I love the competitiveness, but also the teamwork that comes with it. You’re there as a team to work together, and that’s the way that the game works,” she explains.

That dedication to hard work extends off the court as well. Grimm is currently in the top 3% of her class.

“I feel like it’s really just a lot of time management. I really have to schedule out when I have my games and I know priorities of what I need to get done,” she said. “I know when to do my schoolwork and when it’s volleyball time and just balancing it out.”

While she hasn’t settled on what college she’ll attend after high school, she does know what she’ll do when she gets there.

“I’m going to do pre-med and biology because I want to be doctor,” Grimm explained.
