TEXAS — According to the FBI, Donald Trump was the target of “what appears to be an attempted assassination” at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

This news comes just 9 weeks after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. The former president stated that he is safe and in a good condition.

Following the news of the attempted assassination, Texas lawmakers took to X to share their reactions to the incident.

Attorney General Ken Paxton said, “Thank God, President @realDonaldTrump is safe.”

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said, “Grateful that @realDonaldTrump is safe thanks to the quick response from law enforcement. The violence must stop, and this individual must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Dallas, said, “Political violence has no place in a democracy.”

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, thanked law enforcement and said, “I’m relieved to hear President Trump is safe after reports of gunfire at Mar-a-Lago.”

Rep. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, stressed that politics should be free from violence and added that he is “relieved that former President Trump was not harmed and it appears the Secret Service quickly acted to keep everyone safe.”
