AUSTIN, Texas – Taking over Zilker Park with a sky full of kites, thousands of Austinites will participate in the ABC Kite Fest on April 5, an event created by The Exchange Club in 1929.

The festival was introduced to “foster creativity among children,” according to the organization’s website, and is the “largest and longest running festival of its kind.”

The free festival caters to all types of kites, including homemade. It will also hold a unique children’s music festival, MossFest.

While the event is free, VIP High Flyer Pass tickets are available at $100 each help raise money for nonprofits. A $25 parking pass is also available for purchase.

According to the festival, the purchase of a ticket includes perks like early access to the park, banquet seating in a private tent, all-inclusive food and drink and more entertainment specials.

UNATION Austin is also participating in a two-ticket giveaway on Instagram. The winner will be announced April 2, just days before the festival.

No tickets will be available the day of the event.

Around 50,000 people attended the festival in 2023.
