Courtney Aitken joined the Spectrum News 1 Texas weather team in September 2022. Prior to moving to Texas, Courtney worked as the morning meteorologist for a CBS station in the Monterey Bay area. While there, she became familiar with the impacts of drought, wildfires, and marine conditions, as well as occasionally putting on her reporter hat to cover weather-related stories. After dipping her toes into forecasting on the West Coast, Courtney is thrilled to dive head first into the whirlwind that is Texas weather.
Courtney is originally from Colorado and was born and raised in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. While in school, she also had the opportunity to intern at WeatherNation.
Courtney is currently pursuing her second bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. When she’s not forecasting or studying, she’s probably seeking out the best queso in Texas (and then taking a long walk to make up for it!).
