TEXAS — According to Deadline, Jennifer Garner, a Texas native, is going to star in a film about a couple who stole almost $17 million from the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas.

According to Deadline, the movie "Fruitcake" will tell the story of Kay and Sandy Jenkins, a seemingly respectable couple who embezzled $17 million from the fruitcake company.

In 2015, Kay was sentenced to five years’ probation and 100 hours of community service, while Sandy was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Deadline had previously reported in 2020 that Will Ferrell and Laura Dern were set to portray the Texas couple, but the project “has undergone a makeover,” according to Deadline’s report released earlier this month.

Collin Street Bakery checks were allegedly written by Sandy Jenkins to his personal creditors, with federal authorities claiming that he also manipulated the bakery’s computerized accounting system to falsely indicate that the checks were voided.

Upon sentencing, the seized assets and cash, which added up to almost $4 million, were given to Collin Street Bakery for liquidation.

The release date for the movie has not been reported yet.
