SAN ANTONIO — Jordan Bearden has been playing soccer since she was 4.

“Well, my parents first put me in it and I just fell in love with the sport,” said the William J. Brennen High School senior.

Playing center for the Lady Bears has given her a sense of community.

“I love being part of a team, most definitely being part of a team,” she said. "It’s just like one giant family and we all just do team bonding things and just on the field and off the field, we’re all just great together.”

That friendship is something she hopes to find in college.

“I also want a school that’s like in the community, they’re all together and they’re like a family, and they will help you through no matter what so that’s what I’m looking for in a [college], but soccer is also a huge part of it too,” Bearden said.

She wants to attend a college she can play soccer at, and making sure her grades stay strong is a priority.

“Even if I made a 'B,' I’d try to like ask my teacher for extra points, I would just do everything I can to get the grade that I wanted to,” Bearden said.

All that hard work means Bearden is projected to graduate with a 4.0 GPA.

“I think I want to work with kids when I’m older. I’m still not exactly sure what I want to do, but I know I want to go to medical school and try to be a doctor,” Bearden said.
