SAN ANTONIO — This season is a family affair for Brennan High School football. There are two sets of twin brothers on the Bears varsity team this year.
Quarterback Ashton Dubose and his brother, wide receiver Aaron Dubose, are charismatic juniors.
"He has the bigger head," Ashton Dubose said.
"Ah, he's being a funny guy. He always likes to crack jokes," Aaron Dubose interjected.
Running back Jason Love, and his brother, wide receiver Ryan Love, are mild-mannered sophomores.
“Pretty calm, quiet, respectful, we’re humble people," Ryan Love said. "We’re just kids that stay in the back that are always there.”
“All of our teachers are always telling us how we never talk or nothing like that," Jason Love added.
Both sets of twins have their similar fashion tastes and drive to succeed on the field.
“We like the same shoes, jeans too," Aaron Dubose said.
“When we're together, always motivating each other and pushing each other," Jason Love said.
But both sets of twins have their differences.
“I’m a little bit hyper, so I'm always having energy, ready to do anything," Ashton Dubose said.
“School, his grades are a little bit better than mine," Jason Love said.
There's plenty of competition mixed in too, something that hasn't always ended peacefully.
“Whenever I get mad or whenever he gets mad, it was going over into days and days," Ashton Dubose said. "We always end up fighting.”
Thankfully the twins are now on the same team, winning football games for the Bears.
“It's good being around them. They’re cool," said Ashton Dubose about the Love brothers. "They’re funny and they're similar to us because they are twins, so they have the same energy as us.”
Energy isn't the only thing they share. The Duboses and Loves were born exactly one year apart on November 4.
“We always had a pretty good relationship, always relate and talk about the same things," said Jason Love about the Dubose brothers.
There is also a special twin connection between the siblings.
“If I'm thinking something or I'm doing something, he’ll think of it too," Ashton Dubose said. “You have somebody to motivate you just get up every day just work hard, come out every day and compete with each other.”
No matter what, the brothers want to see each other succeed.
“When we're next to each other, we just want to do better," Ryan Love said. "I see him do something good, I just want to try to top that.”
