TEXAS – It’s a delivery service that might come in handy during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, Uber announced that it has expanded its Uber Eats app to include prescription drug delivery.

According to a press release from the company, the program is being rolled out in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, and customers can now obtain delivery of prescriptions from independent, local pharmacies.

The service is made available in conjunction with Nimble Rx, a prescription delivery service.

"Now more than ever, it is critical that people get their medications safely and efficiently, and over the last several months, we have seen a significant increase in demand for prescription delivery from both consumers and retail pharmacies," said Talha Sattar, Founder and CEO of Nimble. "Through this partnership with Uber, we are able to dramatically increase people’s access to essential prescriptions.”

Much like food orders, users will be able to track the progress of their prescriptions from the pharmacy to their homes via the app.
