TEXAS — Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced Tuesday that, starting today, he will pay up to $1 million to incentivize, encourage and reward people to come forward and report voter fraud.
“I support President Trump’s efforts to identify voter fraud in the presidential election and his commitment to making sure that every legal vote is counted and every illegal vote is disqualified. President Trump’s pursuit of voter fraud is not only essential to determine the outcome of this election, it is essential to maintain our democracy and restore faith in future elections,” Patrick said in a statement.
Patrick said anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and final conviction of voter fraud will be paid a minimum of $25,000. Whistleblowers and tipsters should turn over their evidence to local law enforcement.
The Associated Press is projecting Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election, but President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed voter fraud has been rampant during this election, but has no evidence to back up those claims. Trump received 214 electoral votes, including Texas’ 38 votes, with 52% of the state's vote.
Other prominent Texas Republicans are still saying it's too soon to call the election, including Sen. Ted Cruz. Gov. Greg Abbott also said Monday “illegal votes” shouldn’t be counted and elections aren’t certified by the news media.
