NATIONWIDE – Twitter on Sunday again flagged a tweet by President Donald Trump, this time for claiming that mail drop boxes are a “voter security disaster” and pose a COVID-19 health risk.

The claims were made without evidence and Twitter responded with a flag that states “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about civic and election integrity. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s best interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”

Trump’s tweet also claims that mail drop boxes “make it possible for a person to vote multiple times.”

The president has previously railed against mail-in voting, and the drop boxes in question are already in use in states where elections are conducted via mail ballots.

Twitter, along with Facebook, removed a video posted by Trump earlier in August that claimed children “are almost immune” to COVID-19. In May, during the George Floyd protests, Twitter placed a flag on a tweet by the president that stated “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” That tweet was said to have broken Twitter’s rules concerning violence.
