SAN ANTONIO – The City of San Antonio is currently looking to hire COVID-19 case investigators and contact tracers in an attempt to slow down the growing number of coronavirus cases throughout the city.

The jobs pay $18 and $15 an hour and there are full-time and part-time positions available.

Case investigators and contact tracers communicate directly with newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients to determine what assistance they might need. They also let people know if they have recently come into contact with someone that is sick and what precautions they should take.

While the positions are for the City, UTHealth School of Public Health in San Antonio is recruiting potential workers on behalf of Metro Health.

Contact tracers are believed to be an important part of helping slow the spread of the virus causing the global pandemic.

San Antonio has had more than 21,000 coronavirus cases, 208 deaths, and 7,968 recoveries as of Wednesday evening.
