SAN ANTONIO – There's more than 6,000 hardworking people who volunteer their time at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo every year.

"We just all enjoy it, it means it's good people," said Susan Thibodeaux, public affairs committee volunteer. "You get to meet interesting people, especially on this committee."

Thibodeaux has been on the public affairs committee for the last five years.

"The areas I like best to work in is the media check-in, which all the media have to be approved and possibly a media escort to show them around the grounds," said Thibodeaux.

While Thibodeaux has spent years volunteering, she’s now excited to be able to share that experience with her son and daughter.

"It's such a family thing out here so I've actually been here since probably I was born,” said Nikki Thibodeaux, Susan’s daughter and public affairs committee volunteer. “My parents were on the auction committee and they would take weeks off of work to volunteer. So this was such a family experience it just feels like home and I wanted to be involved from that time forward."

To mom Susan Thibodeaux, the Rodeo is more than just spending quality time with her kids. It’s a chance to share her childhood growing up on a 140-acre ranch in New Braunfels.

"It's a good family time,” said Thibodeaux. “I'm proud of where I come from and I love living in Central Texas."
