SAN ANTONIO — Former Vice President Joe Biden held a rally in San Antonio, trying to make gains in the Lone Star State as he works to lock down the Democratic nomination amidst a crowded field of candidates.

Biden characterized this election as a fight for the soul of the nation. The former Vice President riled up the crowd with every mention of taking on President Donald Trump in November.

Despite a crowded Democratic primary, Biden’s focus was on Trump, and made no mention of any other candidates. He jumped right into issues important to San Antonio — veterans and immigration. He promised to provide better healthcare for veterans and comprehensive mental health support. He also called out the president directly saying Trump doesn’t understand military service. On immigration, Biden vowed to reverse family separation policies in his first 100 days.

"Immigration is all about families. That's how we all got here, " Biden said.

He also said he would protect those here under DACA and their families while also making them eligible for student aid.

Biden did say if he wins the primary, he’ll be spending more time in Texas ahead of the general.
