SAN ANTONIO -- When you think of a Thanksgiving dinner, what’s at the center of the table? Traditionally, the answer is a turkey.
- Donations can be made online
- H-E-B Plus locations accepting purchased turkeys
The San Antonio Food Bank knows that not everyone can provide their families with a turkey, making it one of the top items distributed for the holiday.
Just over a week out from Thanksgiving, the food bank is experiencing an unusual shortage of turkey donations.
“When you think about those special family meals, ones that might be passed down from generation to generation, there's a special pride in being able to put that meal together,” said Michael Guerra, San Antonio Food Bank’s chief development officer.
To help the turkey shortage, a $15 donation through the food bank’s website will cover the cost of a bird for one family. Additionally, the food bank will be accepting purchased turkeys on-site of every H-E-B Plus in the city on Saturday.
