SAN ANTONIO – The honor walk for firefighter Greg Garza zig-zagged its way through downtown San Antonio before ending at Main Plaza.

Jeremy Walker is with San Antonio Pipe and Drum and worked with Garza for seven years. He knew him well.
"Greg was there pretty much at the formation of the band and used to come out and watch us practice," said Walker.
Justin Sifuentes is the commander of the Honor Guard, and only knew Garza in passing.

"Hearing the stories, it was obvious what kind of person Greg was," said Sifuentes.
The two men had very different relationships with the man they came to honor, but both had one distinct purpose to fulfill.
"We get up and we put on the uniform to do the same thing for every brother before us," said Sifuentes. "We want to be part of honoring his family and to make sure that honor gets bestowed on our fallen."
Both men said the same thing: every firefighter and every first responder is part of a brotherhood.

And the bond they share make no individual more important than the other. Walker says that's the way Garza would've wanted it.
"We're all Greg you know, and Greg is all of us," he said. "We're here with each other and feeling good to be in the family, in the fire department. And so, he's here. We don't miss him, he's here."
Both the San Antonio Honor Guard and San Antonio Pipe and Drum will be in attendance at a private ceremony when Greg Garza is laid to rest on Thursday.
