Democratic primary candidates spent hours discussing their plans Wednesday during a CNN Town Hall event. Ten candidates took the stage to discuss their solutions ranging from big sweeping proposals that mirror the Green New Deal to more moderate approaches that target specific industries.

Award-winning Climate Consultant Brandi Clark Burton said the more people are talking about it, the better.

"I'm encouraged that we're starting to see people take the conversation around climate change seriously," Burton said. "We're starting to see politicians have plans around it and I think that certainly more is needed but we’re headed in the right direction.”

Now, Burton is looking for action from people both old and new to the conversation. She believes the only way to inspire big systemic change is for individuals to do their part.

"Every single professional, every single home maker, every single person, every child can make a difference on how things go on this planet," Burton said.

Burton believes the solution is in books like Drawdown, a comprehensive list of actions that she says could prevent climate change. The solutions range from small individual changes like preventing food waste to big industry changes like switching to wind and solar energy.

"We actually have all the technology that we need already if we implement it to not just slow down how fast we’re messing things up on the planet but to reverse global warming," Burton said.
