SAN ANTONIO — A new economic impact report shows the historic San Antonio Missions is a boom to the regional economy.

The National Park Service study shows the historic missions pulled in more than $130 million.

That means visitors spend a lot of money on lodging, restaurants, bars, and souvenirs.

More than 1.2 million people visited San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in 2018. Those visitors helped generate and support almost 1300 jobs.

Of the $130 million spent in the region, $88 million of that goes to communities near the Missions.

The San Antonio Missions earns more money annually than any other National Park in Texas including the Padre Island National Shoreline, Lyndon Johnson National Historic Park and Big Bend.
