SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a shooting that appears to have happened on a North Side highway that injured a 21-year-old man.

  • 1 man injured during shooting
  • Currently in stable condition
  • Police are still investigating

According to police, around 4:30 a.m. Friday, officers received a 911 call about shots fired in the area of 1200 northeast Loop 410, near the intersection of Nacogdoches Road.

When police arrived, they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times inside his car parked on the shoulder. The car had multiple bullet holes in it.

The 21-year-old was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his neck and abdomen. At last check, police said he's in stable condition.

The highway was shut down for at least two hours Friday as police cleared the scene. At this time, a detective has been assigned to this case and they're still trying to figure out what led up to this shooting.

"I see it's unclear at this time if there was a road rage incident that occurred on the highway between the victim and another vehicle or if there was an argument leading up to it that led to the shots fired," said public information officer Jennifer Rodriguez. "So we're still trying to figure out the stories and speak to different witnesses and the victim in this case."

Police currently don't have any suspect information to provide but say when an arrest is made, they will face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
