TEXAS – The temperatures this weekend will be in the upper 90s, and when the temperatures rise, so do your energy bills.

But there are ways you can beat the heat, and the high energy bills, this summer.

Helpful Tips:

  • Get an air conditioner tune-up. You should get a maintenance once a year to clear the system.
  • Seal and insulate your home. You want to keep hot air out, and cool air in, so inspect your home for air leaks and poor attic insulation.
  • Block out the sun; keeping the shades down can keep your home cool.
  • Don't turn on the oven or stove; the appliances can warm up your house, so use a grill or the microwave.
