SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what they believe is an inmate-on-inmate homicide.

  • Inmate dies after suspected attack by other inmate
  • Victim’s cellmate detained
  • Charged with capital murder

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the incident happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. A detention deputy was doing his cell check when he saw blood coming out from one of the living units. At the unit, he found an inmate, 31-year-old Alexander Wise, unresponsive with severe head and facial injuries. The deputy began giving first aid and called for medical assistance. However, Wise was pronounced dead around 1:47 p.m.

Wise's cellmate, 31-year-old Shadrick Van Anthony Buckley, was taken into custody. He was already being held for murder and was charged earlier in the week for assaulting a deputy. He is facing a charge of capital murder.

The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation and are processing the scene.

Wise is believed to be a former Aryan Brotherhood member. He was also involved in another violent disturbance with other inmates Wednesday.
