AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Mayor Steve Adler made a stop in South Bend, Indiana, on Sunday to announce his support for 2020 presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg.

The mayor was picked to introduce Buttigieg at a rally where he formally announced his candidacy. In front of a raucous crowd in his hometown, Buttigieg shared his plans to run in 2020.
Spectrum News spoke with Adler by phone shortly before he took the stage in South Bend.
“He is just incredibly smart, he is someone that is doing great things in his community. He has a way of making people understand complicated issues, he has a way of dealing with issues,” said Adler.
Adler has been friendly with the candidate for many years.
