BLANCO, Texas -- The Blanco Police Department was notified on Friday that Mayor Martha Herden received a death threat.
- Police investigate death threat and act of terrorism
- Threat apparently connected to City Council item
- Undisclosed act of terrorism in sewer system
Later that same evening police discovered that an act of domestic terrorism was committed against the city sewer system. Police said this act was discovered before it caused any environmental harm.
Police additionally believe the threat was in response to current issues that may be addressed by the City Council in the future. They will not, however, explain what exactly that means so we've submitted paperwork to get more answers from police.
They said threats like this one are taken seriously and will be prosecuted.
The investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Blanco County Sherrif's Office and the Texas Rangers.
