Dr. Naji Kayruz's office will never be the same. Staff, patients, and friends are all missing their beloved doctor.
The prominent San Antonio surgeon of more than 20 years was hit and killed by a drunken driver Monday night while he was riding his bicycle off I-10.
"I've known Doctor Kayruz for over 20 years," said Felicia Mares.
For medical secretaries Felicia Mares and Valerie Padilla, coming to work is hard.
"We'll always be grateful for having the time that we did with him," said Mares.
"Very caring and understanding physician. Very thorough with his patients, always went out of his way. Just wonderful, wonderful doctor. Just driving out this way was one of the hardest things ever," Padilla said.
They both worked at his office off Broadway Street for the past five years. They say the general surgeon was loved by his patients.
"Very professional, had the best bedside manners that any physician could have. He will be truly missed. We're still very much in shock and heartbroken over this tragedy. He'd go out of his way to accommodate any patients, anybody in need. He'd never turn anybody away, even if we were busy we'd still see them. Just going to really miss him," Mares said.
