UVALDE, Texas – A 12-year-old has been charged in connection to the slaying of a man during a home invasion in Uvalde on Wednesday.

At 7:55 p.m. a woman called Uvalde police to 624 Boone Street for a report of a break-in and possible shooting.
Arriving officers found a 24-year-old man lying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS provided emergency medical services, and transported the victim to Uvalde Memorial Hospital. The man was pronounced dead at 8:43 p.m.
Witnesses told police they saw a man running away from the residence dressed in all black with a black bandana covering the lower part of his face.
Uvalde police, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety Ranger’s Office, took a person of interest into custody. Officials later revealed that they charged a 12-year-old in the man's death. The minor is being held on capital murder charges at the Jourdanton Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators processed the scene for evidence.
