SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is seeking community input on the Draft 2019-2029 SA Parks System Plan.

  • Plan updated every 10 years
  • Helps to determine expansion and improvements
  • City council to approve in Spring 2019

The plan will guide future decisions on the expansion, capital improvements and programming of the parks and recreational facilities, green space, and trails. The plan is updated every 10 years. Initial input for the plan was gathered from residents, stakeholders, and city staff from October of 2017 through April of 2018. 

Four primary goals to guide the parks system over the next 10 years:

1.    San Antonio has a responsive park system.

2.    Park system is restorative to the community’s health.

3.    San Antonio is more resilient because of parks and recreation.

4.    The City is resourceful in creating, maintaining and changing the parks and recreation system. 

Residents can learn more about the recommended strategies for each of the primary goals and submit their feedback at one of the upcoming meetings or online:

  • Thursday, January 24: SA Parks System Plan Public Meeting at the Salvation Army (Peacock Center) at 2810 W. Ashby Place from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 31 A Tele-town Hall meeting will be held for residents to hear more about the plan and provide feedback.
  • Now thru Friday, February 8 residents can visit www.SAParksandRec.com to view the draft plan and provide your comments online.

Resident feedback will be incorporated into the final plan and taken to City Council for approval in Spring 2019.
