She's leaving as a new ordinance is taking affect.
Last month, voters helped pass a charter amendment that cuts the pay and limits the tenure of San Antonio city managers, though Sculley has said that she was contemplating retirement even before the amendment passed.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg said late Wednesday that the person selected should have experience managing multiple departments in a large city and be someone who is creative and innovative.
“I can tell you that that it will be the most transparent process the city has ever taken for selection of the city manager. I also believe it will happen professionally and fairly without any delay,” Nirenberg said.
Nirenberg also said the most important task for elected officials is to select a city manager and it is a task they take seriously.
He believes the city won't have to look very far to find someone qualified.
