SAN ANTONIO — U.S. Rep Will Hurd, R-Texas, has won his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Hurd beat Democratic challenger Gina Ortiz Jones by 0.3 percent. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 2014.
Texas's 23rd District stretches across the southwestern part of the state and has flipped back and forth in recent years. It is one of the most competitive congressional districts in the state.
Education, veterans, taxes, and the economy are some of his top priorities.
Hurd served as an undercover officer in the Central Intelligence Agency in the Middle East and South Asia for nearly a decade. After leaving the CIA, he became a senior advisor with a cybersecurity firm.
He attended John Marshall High School and Texas A&M University, where he majored in computer science.
