SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday announced the team will retire Manu Ginobili’s No. 20 jersey during a game on March 28.
The retirement ceremony will take place during a tilt with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will include a special postgame ceremony on the AT&T Center floor.
Ginobili will become the ninth player in Spurs history to have his jersey raised to the rafters. The others are: Bruce Bowen (12), Tim Duncan (21), Sean Elliot (32), George Gervin (44), Avery Johnson (6), Johnny Moore (00), David Robinson (50) and James Silas (13).
In 16 seasons with the Spurs, Ginobili captured four NBA championships and posted a career winning percentage of .721, which is the best winning percentage in NBA history among players who have appeared in at least 1,000 games.
Ginobili, selected by San Antonio with the 57th overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, appeared in 1,057 games, averaging 13.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebound and 1.32 steals in 25.4 minutes.
