KERRVILLE, Texas - — Recent heavy rains have caused localized flooding on city streets, streams and rivers – like the Guadalupe River – spilling its banks at Louise Hays Park.
Officials with the City of Kerrville continue to monitor changing weather conditions and major flooding.
Throughout Tuesday, authorities alerted residents of the Guadalupe River rising. The river crested sometime between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Low water crossings were the biggest threat. There were a total of four high water rescues Monday and three on Tuesday across Kerr County.
“We’re closing streets. We’re also monitoring our water treatment plant. We took offline, so we’re running on wells now. We’ve closed down a couple of the river crossings to be safe in they go out we don’t want to lose our water supply. We don’t want it to get contaminated. We’re also monitoring all of our lift stations for the wastewater side and making sure that nothing is overflowing on the waste waterside,” said Director of Public Works Stuart Barron with the City of Kerrville.
So far, there have been no reports of fatalities or anyone getting hurt.
